Whatever the reason you are starting therapy, you are entering into a process that will both support and challenge you. It is always a brave act to look more deeply into your experience, past and present.
I help people to overcome self defeating behaviors, process trauma through talk and EMDR, work through stubborn relationship patterns and address depression and anxiety. I also work with parents to increase their self-reflective capacity, understand their triggers and learn parenting strategies.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
– Carl Rogers
I am a New York City based licensed psychotherapist and have worked in the field of mental health for over twenty years. While I primarily now work with adults, couples, and teens, I have many years of experience working with and supporting children and their families.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, with a Masters Degree from Hunter College School of Social Work. I have four years post-graduate training in Gestalt therapy, as well as training in family therapy and trauma-based cognitive behavioral therapy.
Prior to my work as a therapist, I worked as a director of social work in schools, and provided individual and family therapy, mental health consultations, and groups in community based organizations. I received my undergraduate degree from Brandeis University.
