My Approach to Therapy

I believe a safe and empathic relationship is the key to successful psychotherapy. In therapy with me, you will find a welcoming space to explore yourself at a pace that feels right to you. I have a compassionate, direct, and interactive presence. I will work with you to understand what is blocking you from having access to the full range of your own possibility. I will also focus on uncovering your strong and authentic parts to support your growth. I guide my clients through this process with discernment, insight, kindness, and humor.

My therapeutic work is grounded in my training in Gestalt therapy, a humanistic, experiential and relational approach.  My technique is also informed by psychoanalytic principles and some cognitive behavioral therapy. I use mindfulness as a tool to support people to develop the capacity to tolerate painful and challenging emotions.

I specialize in helping people heal from many types of trauma- emotional, physical, sexual, neglect and abuse. I use EMDR as one tool to help people heal from these experiences.
